The new carry-out pizza restaurant will open at 5329 Sycamore School Rd, suite 109. The location is part of the Summer Creek Station mixed-use development that is bringing in a number of nationally known restaurant and retail brands.
According to a recent state project filing, work on the 1,400-square-foot space will begin this month and is expected to be completed in June.
Behind the forthcoming restaurant is local husband and wife franchise duo, Heidi and Jim McGregor. The McGregors, who both have backgrounds in the medical industry, introduced the brand to the Lone Star State in 2012 with their first Toppers location in Fort Worth at 2901 W Berry St in the TCU neighborhood. That location is still open and operating. The Summer Creek Station location will be their second location for both the city and the state so there’s no telling where the next Texas Toppers will land.
In an interview with 1851 Franchise, the McGregors said they would eventually “like to have four to five locations in the future.”
Based out of Whitewater, Wisconsin, Toppers is a progressive delivery pizza concept that stands apart from others in the crowded field by appealing to the young, and young at heart, and interacting with them on a personal level. Guests can build their own pies or they can choose from 20 different house or premium pizzas. There’s:
- Wisconsin Cheesemaker Topper – developed in partnership with award-winning cheesemakers at Cedar Valley Cheese in WI, it features 100% real WI mozzarella, pepper jack, asiago, and smoked gouda
- Loaded Tot-zza – ranch sauce topped with 100% real WI mozzarella cheese, tater tots, applewood smoked bacon, green onions and drizzled with nacho cheese
- Mac ‘n cheese – cheese sauce with macaroni noodles, cheddar cheese and 100% real WI mozzarella cheese
- Pesto Margherita Topper – nut and cheese free pesto base sauce with 100% WI mozzarella, garlic-roasted and diced tomatoes
- Vegan Tuscano Topper – dairy free mozzarella, garlic-roasted tomatoes, green olives and spinach
The 100% real Wisconsin cheese seems to be a running theme here.
And its not just crave-worthy pizza that they serve. Other food creations include wings, a variety of breadsticks called Topperstix, and sides of mac and beer battered cheese curds.
