Owner and chef Nikky Phinyawatana opened the first Asian Mint restaurant in 2004 in Dallas at 75 and Forest Lane. Three more locations have since followed – two in Dallas at Oak Lawn Ave and W Lovers Ln, and the other in Richardson at W Campbell Rd.
Based on requests from her customers and employees, there’s great possibility for Phinyawatana to open many more Asian Mint locations. She settled on Addison for now because the area is a thriving place for restaurants, it’s far enough from her other locations, and her team pushed her to do it.
“Anytime I open the restaurant, it’s for my team,” Phinyawatana told The Dallas Morning News. “They need growth; they want to work on something new. They’re the ones who pushed us.”
Asian Mint offers a fresh take on Asian fusion cuisine with an emphasis on Thai classics like Pad Thai, coconut soup, fried rice, and a variety of noodle, stir fry and curry dishes. House specialties include grilled salmon teriyaki, steamed sea bass, and chicken khao soi. Asian Mint in Addison will feature a menu similar to its sister locations.
Design-wise, it will feature a patio with retractable sliding doors, and a separate window and entrance dedicated to takeout.
