The Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex is one of the areas in luck, along with Houston and the Waco-Temple-Bryan area. But first, the chain – which currently operates 16 locations throughout Central Texas – will kick off its expansion by opening a few more restaurants in Austin and San Antonio. So, those of us who call North Texas home will be waiting on that barbeque for quite a while. Not that we’re lacking options or anything.

The bold growth strategy of Smokey Mo’s TX BBQ involves opening more corporate locations and launching franchise opportunities for the first time. The brand will support its franchisees with such important matters as site selection, design, construction and whatnots. By 2025, Smokey Mo’s hopes to add a total of 32 new locations.

“We are committed to growing our footprint with enthusiastic franchise partners to bring this authentic barbeque to even more local communities,” Craig Haley, president of Smokey Mo’s, said in a statement. “I’m exceptionally proud to bring delicious Smokey Mo’s fare to new communities with our brand new look to reflect who we are at our core.”

Around for more than 20 years, Smokey Mo’s serves up homestyle barbecue favorites like ribs, link sausage and low and slow-cooked brisket, which is smoked in-house for 10 to 14 hours every day. There’s also breakfast which is served until 10:30 AM and includes such offerings as tacos, bowls, and biscuits and gravy.

The brand is passionate about making a positive difference by supporting local communities, and has partnered with schools, hospitals, churches, sports teams and nonprofits throughout its history.

Its rebrand – which was created by NYC brand strategy and design firm, Love & War – comes at just the right time. The refresh better represents Smokey Mo’s Texas roots, big personality and fun-loving attitude. These elements will be seen in the new store prototype for forthcoming restaurants.
