After over 30 years at 242 W Campbell Rd, it will be moving into a newly-constructed building at 2005 Alamo Rd. The sub shop will continue operating at its current location until its ready to make the move that’s less than a block away in February.

The brand has been posting updates on its Instagram of progress to the new Richardson location for several months now. The Campbell Rd restaurant features a drive-thru and it appears that the forthcoming Alamo Rd restaurant will too.

Hailing from New Jersey, the first Great Outdoors Sub Shop opened in the heart of Downtown Dallas in 1973. The brand currently has several locations across the greater DFW area including Addison, Carrollton, Fort Worth, Frisco, and McKinney. The Dallas sub shop is still open at 6918 Greenville Ave.

The Great Outdoors uses fresh deli meats and produce and proprietary breads that are proofed and baked fresh in-house daily. Along with classic and custom subs, the brand’s menu also includes breakfast sandwiches, salads, soups, sides and desserts.

Some of its biggest selling subs include the Invention – made with ham, provolone, cream cheese, and fresh mushrooms; the Outdoorsman – a hefty option featuring turkey pastrami, capicola, spiced ham, salami, bologna, pepperoni, and cheese; and the Summer Sub – built with Muenster, cream cheese, cucumbers, and fresh mushrooms all served on wheat bread.
