According to a recent state project filing, Piada is coming to 6333 E. Mockingbird Ln. It will occupy a 2,000-square-foot existing lease space. Renovation work will cost an estimated $300,000 and is expected to start in May and be completed in September.

The location is a part of Mockingbird Commons, a highly trafficked shopping center that is home to Tom Thumb, Ogle School of Hair Design and ATI Physical Therapy. Other eateries in the center include Crisp & Green, Einstein Bros. Bagels, Café Donuts and Starbucks. According to lease intel, the incoming Piada will be neighbors with the latter in suite 101.

Started as an idea during a visit to Rimini, Italy, the first Piada restaurant opened in 2010 with a mission to create fresh, modern Italian food that doesn’t sacrifice quality and flavor for speed and value. The brand’s name is that of an Italian flatbread, called Piadina or Piada, made simply with flour, water and extra virgin olive oil or lard and traditionally cooked on a terracotta dish.

Today, the Columbus, Ohio-headquartered fast casual brand has nearly 50 locations across six U.S. states.

On the menu are hand-rolled piada wraps such as avocado, BLT, Mediterranean and the chef’s favorite made with spicy diavolo sauce, romaine, mozzarella, sweet peppers and spicy ranch. Greens bowls, grains bowls and tossed pasta bowls – like basil pesto – are also offered.

Guests also have the option to create their own piada wrap, salads or pasta. After choosing your base, you pick your protein and then add your toppings, sauce or dressing. Complete your meal with a tasty side such as sweet corn salad, garlic dough, lobster bisque, grass-fed beef meatballs or a cookie or brownie.

Most Piada locations offer catering, curbside pickup, grab and go shelves, dine in, third party delivery and counter pick up.

The Mockingbird Ln Piada will be the first to open within Dallas proper. The brand currently has four locations in the DFW area – Frisco, Fort Worth, Plano, and Richardson.
