Local Favorite Restaurants is taking over the former home of Hub Streat at 1212 14th St. in Plano. Hub Streat, which closed its doors in August, billed itself as a “culinary entertainment center” and featured wood-fired pies, burgers, cocktails and outdoor seating.
Twisted Root Burger Co. is one of two concepts being opened in the space. An exact opening date has yet to be announced.
According to Local Favorite’s website, the burger brand is built around half-pound, fresh ground burgers with a menu that allows customers to build their own burgers from a list of crazy and inventive toppings. After it appeared on the second season of “Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives with Guy Fieri” (2009), Twisted Root became a dining destination in Dallas and has seen incredible growth since then.
It currently operates 10 other locations across Texas including in Deep Ellum, Waco, and Arlington. It also has outposts in Alabama, Louisiana, and Florida.
Chief Restaurant Operator Steve Chambers says the new Plano location will “be more than a Twisted Root. We’re going to have something for everybody.”
The restaurant group is hoping to get the Plano restaurant up and running pretty quickly since a lot of remodeling work is not being done in the space. “When the Hub Streat came available, it was just a perfect fit,” Chambers said.
And when it’s finished, delicious burgers won’t be the only thing to bring people in. Live music, outside games, and events will also be hosted at the restaurant to create a relaxing, enjoyable environment.
Local Favorite Restaurants also operates brands: El Fenix, Snuffer’s, Village Burger Bar, Meso Maya, Taqueria La Ventana, Wok Star, TorTaco and Sunrise Mexican Foods.
