The next North Texas spot for Portillo’s, the restaurant with a focus on Chicago-style street food, is Fort Worth. Portillo’s announced yesterday on the restaurant’s website that they plan to open a new location about 10 miles from Texas Motor Speedway on North Tarrant Parkway between Interstate 35 and Highway 287.

The 7,800-square-foot restaurant will feature a garage-style design with indoor seats available for 180 guests plus another 50 outside on the patio. Double drive-thru lanes will also be offered as a quick and easy way for guests to get their Portillo’s fix. A project filing states construction could wrap up by the end of 2023, but there is no official word on when the new Portillo’s could open in Fort Worth.

The menu offers Chicago-Style Hot Dogs, Famous Italian Beef Sandwiches, Char-Grilled Burgers, and Portillo’s Famous Chocolate Cake. Chicken sandwiches, salads, pastas, crinkle-cut fries, and soups are also on the menu. If you want to try something sweet, a variety of shakes and other cakes, including Strawberry Shortcake, are also available.

Portillo’s has a location open in The Colony with others planned for Allen, Arlington, and Denton. Founder Dick Portillo began selling hot dogs from a stand dubbed The Dog House in Villa Park, Illinois in 1963. Four years later, the stand got a new home and was renamed Portillo’s. The brand now has dozens of locations across Illinois and in a number of other states including Indiana, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.
