The Dallas Morning News reports that the forthcoming 4.3-acre venue coming to the historic McKinney grain site at the corner of Greenville St and Dungan St is scheduled to be completed and open by December 2022. The first phase, a 25,000-square-foot production facility, is set to open first in October.

The relocation was first announced in 2020 with TUPPS founder and president, Keith Lewis, calling the move a “big, audacious project.”

The McKinney Community Development Corporation and the McKinney Economic Development Corporation are contributing to the project. The rehabilitation and revitalization of the grain site is part of the city’s goal to redevelop the Downtown Historic Cultural District and East McKinney to create destination retail, dining, and entertainment for residents and visitors.

“The City of McKinney is committed to revitalizing the eastside of our historic downtown area and I could not think of a better partner than TUPPS to be the catalyst,” Mayor George Fuller said at the time of the announcement. “TUPPS will bring much needed energy to this area that will attract other businesses and expand our historic downtown footprint.”

According to the brewery’s website, the move to the new site includes remodeling the 120-year-old grain mill, a new state of the art 25,000-square-foot production brewery and a retail craft community shopping area that will be housed in grain bins. The total project will encompass over 40,000 square feet of buildings on a 4-acre spread. It will also feature a large outdoor stage to host live music and theater performances.

With the belief that “beer is the perfect blend of art and science,” TUPPS is an independently owned craft brewery founded by Lewis in 2015. According to the Texas Craft Brewers Association, TUPPS is the 16th largest craft brewery in the state out of 341. Its award-winning lineup of beers include TUPPS IPA, Juice Pack, Neon Shades, and National Standard, as well as seasonal powerhouses like the Full Grown Man series, DDHIPA Series and Day of the Dead. TUPPS also produces Blur Hard Craft Seltzer, which offers four different flavors in a 12-variety pack.

TUPPS Brewery is currently housed in McKinney’s historic Cotton Mill at 721 Anderson St.
