Per a release from the city, the Flower Mound restaurant will open at 2945 Long Prairie Rd, occupying the former home of a Black Walnut Café. An exact opening date has not yet been announced.

“We are shooting for an opening date around April 18 although that date could certainly get pushed back a week or two depending on a long list of factors,” owner Jeff Frankel told What Now Dallas in an email.

Founded by Frankel in 1992, Mattito’s offers guests a unique Mexican food dining experience with a menu built on family recipes over fifty years old. Today, daily operations are carried out by Vice President Jim Lannom.

A variety of tacos – fish, brisket, beef, pork; burritos, enchiladas and fajitas are offered. They mostly come served with Spanish rice and refried beans and a selction of classic toppings like guacamole, letuce, tomato, cheese and sour cream.

There’s also vegetarian and breakfast options. Desserts include house made vanilla flan, sopapillas and tres leches cake. And there are margaritas, of course. Mattito’s specialty being the Rumbarita – a blend of Sauza Gold Tequila, Blue Curacao, lemon and lime juices that can be frozen or on the rocks.
