Audrea Weimer, founder and owner of Tender Smokehouse and Toasted Walnut Table and Market, alongside husband-wife team Amy and Brett Hager, also owners of Toasted Walnut Table and Market, have announced plans to reopen the burger joint.

“We have some exciting news to announce. In an effort to continue the 30+ year legacy of Burger Fixin in the community of Celina, we have purchased Burger Fixin so we can continue to offer the great food and service you’ve come to crave!” a message posted to Burger Fixin’s Facebook page read. “It will take some time to construct the new building but we’re anxious to get started.”

Tender Smokehouse, a family-owned Texas pit BBQ restaurant with pitmaster Dante Ramirez at the helm, has locations in Aubrey, Celina and Frisco. Toasted Walnut Table and Market, a swell bistro in downtown Celina, serves up southern comfort food for lunch and dinner five days a week. With their hometown, family roots, Weimer and the Hager’s are the perfect team to bring back Burger Fixins. Fans of the eatery seem to think so too with many thanking them for keeping it going.

“So excited to see Burger Fixins 2.0,” one commenter said.

Check Out DFW reports that the incoming team purchased the naming rights, brand and recipes of the restaurant. They are currently working with the land owners to purchase the land at 211 E Pecan St, construct a new building, and keep the restaurant in its old spot. But if that doesn’t work out, they will find a new location in Celina for it.

“It will stay in Celina,” Weimer told Check Out DFW. “It will be a new building with a larger kitchen so we can serve more people and bring in more jobs to the area. We want to offer inside dining and expand the outside area.”

Founded in 1993, the longtime hometown burger and BBQ joint closed in November 2021. In December, the Celina Economic Development Corp. contacted Weimer and asked if she would be interested in carrying the restaurant on. She was. Weimer shared the opportunity with the Hager’s, who were also interested, and now the group is aiming to have the new Burger Fixins open by the end of the year.

The menu will largely include items that regulars know and love including the BBQ chopped brisket sandwich, mini tacos, and pizza rolls.

Fans of Burger Fixins are invited to follow the eatery on Facebook to stay updated on the reopening process.
