In January 2022, Hopdoddy entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Grub and together the two brands combined to form one new company, HiBar Hospitality Group. With backing by L Catterton, HiBar is led by Hopdoddy CEO Jeff Chandler. Grub founder and CEO Jimmy Loup retained a stake in the new company and is on its board of directors.

“We’re thrilled to join forces with Grub, a high quality and complementary brand that we have admired for years,” Chandler said in a statement at the time. “We have much in common, from our team-centric cultures and commitment to people, to exciting menus and a tireless focus on the guest experience. We think very much alike and share a long-term vision, which will serve us well as we come together and embark on our next stage of growth.”

Founded in 2012 in College Station, Grub (which stands for Good people, Real food, Unique vibe and Big flavors) opened its East Dallas location in 2013 and currently owns and operates 18 restaurants across four states. Featuring a scratch kitchen, Grub is known for its chef-crafted burgers and sandwiches, fresh salads, hand-battered chicken, made-from-scratch sauces and sides, and hand-spun shakes. Vegetarian-friendly options are also available.

Every Grub location includes patio seating and a full-service bar featuring craft cocktails, draft beer served in ice-cold frozen mugs and a selection of wines.

Hopdoddy got its start in Austin, but shares many similarities with Grub – burgers, beer, fresh salads, and hand-spun shakes. The brand has been a part of the L Catterton family since 2014 and ranked #1 on Business Insider‘s list of The 50 Best Burger Joints in America.

Hopdoddy currently owns and operates 32 restaurants across five states and is looking to increase that number by expanding with 8-12 units per year.

Grub is currently open at 4925 Greenville Ave in Energy Square.
