A mini apothecary will open to the public on the Square in Downtown Weatherford this August. Dragonfly Apothecary & Holistics Co-owner Jenny Parten has been involved in the holistics realm for a decade. While dealing with health issues, Parten recognized that her healing came through natural therapies that assisted with what she was doing from the Western world to heal her body.

“I think that I healed exponentially faster because of it. So, we really want to give people those opportunities to learn a little bit more about their bodies, to be able to take care of themselves on a more intimate level, take responsibility for their own health and well-being, and give them education on different things they can do.”

Parten and her mother and co-owner, Tracy Moore, always shared their desire to open an apothecary while watching Practical Magic or The Good Witch together. “When her hubby passed recently, we were like, ‘We should do something fun together,’ and this is something that we could take on that we felt good about,” Parten shared.

Dragonfly Apothecary & Holistics at 109 York Ave., Ste. 203 in Weatherford will offer different herbs and medicinal teas. “We thought we’d be a resource for people to come and make some loose-leaf teas of their own. Teach them how to make loose-leaf tea blends and do some of those things to address their needs and get some of their vitamins and minerals met in a way that’s not through taking a pill necessarily,” Parten explained.

Dragonfly Apothecary & Holistics will sell succulents, vintage tea cups, tea strainers, and other gifts. “Because we’re Japanese, we’re going to have some different little Japanese gifts like really cute chopsticks,” Parten said.

Dragonfly Apothecary & Holistics will also offer appointments for holistic services such as Shamanic Reiki, holistic facials, and Acutonics, which is like acupuncture but uses tuning forks instead of needles.

“We’ve got a sweet, little, hidden space upstairs in the Square,” Parten told What Now Dallas. “It’s super cute. We’re really happy with it.”
