Portillo’s expansive menu includes hot dogs, beef and sausage, char-broiled burgers, sandwiches and salads – all items the restaurant calls “Unrivaled Chicago Street Food.” It seems the public agrees, as Portillo’s placed second in the 2022 Best in Biz Awards for the Large Business Company of the Year and Best Place to Work categories.

Portillo’s customers can choose between online orders, cashless drive-thru service, or a more leisurely experience dining inside the restaurant or on the patio. The restaurant maintains its classic garage-themed decor across all locations, providing a sort of comfort and consistency for the fans old and new.

According to the website, Dick Portillo started his namesake restaurant as a small hot dog trailer in 1963. It soon became a Chicago staple that has spread across the nation. Known for Italian beef sandwiches and chocolate cake shakes, Portillo’s has over 80 locations across Arizona, California, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Florida, Michigan, Texas and Wisconsin.
