Construction could start at 209 E. Church St. in Weatherford within the next month. Depending on construction and staff hiring, SALT could open to the public in late December or early 2023.

Saltwater, which served seafood and steak with high-end wines, martinis, and bourbons, closed during COVID. Since then, Shepherd has been sharing the surf and turf recipes at pop-ups and special events.

SALT will feature a similar menu, but Shepherd has added more steaks and a quail appetizer. SALT will be located behind another restaurant concept from Shepherd, Shep’s, which offers burgers, salads, hot dogs, wings, and a full bar at 202 Fort Worth Hwy. in Weatherford.

“It’s a really old house on our back patio. It will be a small dining room, small bar, and a large wraparound front patio and back patio,” Shepherd told What Now Dallas about the new SALT location.

SALT will also include a wine cellar room that will seat six. An added bonus will be a speakeasy-style bar called The Siren hidden behind a bookshelf inside SALT.
