Tim Hortons is coming to the Dallas-Fort Worth area in the near future. We just have to wait until Houston gets her fill first.
CSM Group, the local franchisee in charge of bringing the Canada-based coffee and donut chain to Texas, has plans to open multiple franchise locations in Houston. Once that happens, the group will then turn its focus to DFW and other parts of the state.
Led by brothers, CEO Ali Lakhany and Vice President Emad Lakhany, CSM has plenty of experience when it comes to opening and expanding franchise brands. They currently have over 300 franchised restaurant locations, such as Popeye’s, across Texas, Kansas and Missouri. The brothers were attracted to Tim Hortons because of the brand’s offerings.
“We liked the fact that everything is made fresh in the restaurants. We liked the fact that the overall taste of the food resonates very well with our backgrounds,” Ali told The Houston Business Journal.
Starting out, the group expects to open a total of 30 Tim Hortons locations around the greater Houston area. 10 of those 30 will open within the next three years.
So, it looks like it will be awhile before the only chain that carries a Justin Bieber donut line lands in DFW. They say time flies. When it comes to Tim Hortons arrival, here’s to hoping it actually does.
Ali says he wanted to bring Tim Hortons to Houston first because that’s where he grew up, and we can dig that.
“I love Houston. It’s my city. It’s my town,” Ali said. “I wanted to start off Tim Hortons in Houston and then grow around the state.”
Texas’s very first Tim Hortons is coming to Katy and is expected to open in June 2022. Two to three more Houston area locations are also in the works to open later this year.
Founded in Canada in 1964, Tim Hortons has grown to over 4,900 locations internationally. Its U.S. locations are primarily focused in New York, Michigan and Ohio, but along with Texas, the brand is also looking to expand into Florida this year.
Its menu includes premium coffee, hot and cold specialty drinks, teas and fruit smoothies. Food-wise, there’s hand-dipped and glazed donuts, grilled Panini and classic sandwiches, wraps and soups. Oh, and the Biebs’s Timbiebs Timbits.
