The Charlotte, NC-based leading restaurant franchise first announced it was entering the Lone Star State in June 2021 with plans to launch into Houston and the Dallas Fort-Worth metroplex with six franchised stores and 15 corporate locations. Now, less than seven months later, the brand has signed a total of five multi-unit agreements and plans to build 30 corporate-owned stores over the next several years. This will bring about 50 new Bojangles to the greater Austin, DFW, Houston and San Antonio markets.

DFW area restaurants from Bojangles’s first announcement are expected to start opening in the first half of this year in Garland, Richardson and Mesquite.

Bojangles is partnering with five franchisees to spur growth across the state: SAT Restaurant Group LLC, Lash Foods LLC, Zenith USA Investments LLC, TXBO Group Inc., and Copacetic Group LLC.

With over 15 years of experience introducing multi-unit, multi-branded QSR and fast-casual brands to North Texas, the SAT group will bring three Bojangles restaurants to the greater DFW metroplex with plans to build in Mesquite, Irving and Arlington.

Zenith will be responsible for bringing three Bojangles restaurants to the greater DFW metroplex with plans to build in Duncanville, DeSoto and Cedar Hill. The group is comprised of successful retail and restaurant franchisees who bring nearly 20 years of QSR franchise experience and a wealth of knowledge from the IT industry to Bojangles.

And TXBO will focus its openings on Collin County with plans to open five Bojangles restaurants in Plano, Allen, McKinney and beyond. With more than 25 years of restaurant ownership and operations experience, the group has owned and operated both proprietary and franchise-branded restaurants across the country.

“Here we grow again at Bojangles! We’re excited to launch our brand in the Lone Star State and to have interest from experienced operators throughout key growth markets in Texas. These strong operators have a deep understanding of their markets and share our commitment to bringing Bojangles to the great people of this state,” said Jose Costa, Chief Growth Officer at Bojangles. “We know guests in Texas are going to love the Southern flavor of Bojangles, and we look forward to working with our new franchisees to open these restaurants, as well as to seeding the market with corporate stores to quickly expand our footprint. This is just the beginning for us.”

Founded in 1977, Bojangles offers fried and grilled chicken sandwiches, boneless chicken tenders, bone-in chicken meals, and a variety of (all-day) breakfast biscuit sandwiches made with chicken, sausage or bacon. Southern classics like biscuits and gravy, dirty rice, mashed potatoes and gravy and cole slaw are also available.

The brand’s Bo-Berry Biscuit, a sweet biscuit stuffed with berries and topped with icing, is a fan favorite.

Drinks include Bojangles’s Legendary Iced Tea and Mountain Dew Southern Shock.

And Bojangles is not stopping its Texas growth at 50. In addition to the development agreements already signed, the brand sees potential to open more than 100 units over the next seven to ten years.
