Located inside the Walmart Supercenter at 500 Richland Blvd in Prosper, Surfin’ Chicken is set to open its third North Texas location.
Renovation work will start on the 1,300-square-foot space in December with an opening date set for sometime in early 2022.
Surfin’ Chicken, founded in 2009 as Surf’n’Fries, comes from the far far away country of Croatia. The concept is quite the successful overseas franchise with more than 60 locations across 20 countries, including Egypt, Germany, Ireland, Russia and Vietnam. The brand chose the Dallas-Fort Worth area to make its U.S. debut with the first location opening last month inside the Walmart Supercenter at 555 W. Interstate 30, Garland.
A second Walmart Supercenter Garland location is open at 1801 Marketplace Dr. According to the Surfin’ Chicken website, more locations are planned for Waxahachie, Burleson, Fort Worth, Westworth Village, and Frisco. It appears that all forthcoming restaurants will be located inside of Walmart Supercenters. The brand also has plans to expand into California.
Known for its gourmet scoopable fries, creative sauces and unique packaging that allows customers to hold an entire meal in one hand, the brand focuses on delivering high quality food and great guest experiences.
The U.S. menu includes breakfast (!); chicken sandwiches, nuggets, and tenders; and loaded fries such as Slayer that comes with chile con carne, cheddar or queso cheese sauce, and sliced green onions.
Surfin’ Chicken’s U.S. headquarters is located within Plano’s Granite Park community. The North Texas expansion is being led by Steve Cavaliere and Nikki Commerford, both of whom have extensive experience within the food and beverage industry.
