Renovation work on the space is expected to begin in January and be completed by March 2022. The 1,400-square-foot kiosk space has an estimated cost of $60,000 attached to it.

This will be the first Fort Worth opening for Surfin’ Chicken. The brand chose Texas to make its stateside debut and over the past year, Surfin’ Chicken locations have opened in Garland and Waxahachie. More are being planned for Burleson, Frisco, Princeton, Prosper and Westworth Village.

According to Facebook pages that have been set up, the Burleson location will be at 951 S Wilshire Blvd; the Frisco location will be at 355 Stonebrook Pkwy; and the Princeton location will be at 701 W Princeton Dr. All locations are home to Walmart Supercenters.

Founded in Croatia in 2009, Surfin’ Chicken is a popular overseas concept with more than 60 locations across 20 countries, including Egypt, Germany, Ireland, Russia and Vietnam. The brand is known for its gourmet scoopable fries, creative sauces and unique packaging that allows customers to hold an entire meal in one hand.

The U.S. menu includes chicken sandwiches, nuggets and tenders, as well as loaded fries that come topped with chile con carne, cheddar or queso cheese sauce, and sliced green onions. Breakfast sandwiches, hash browns, French toasty sticks and bagels are also offered.

Surfin’ Chicken’s U.S. headquarters is located within Plano’s Granite Park community. The North Texas expansion is being led by Steve Cavaliere and Nikki Commerford, both of whom have extensive experience within the food and beverage industry.
