SPIN! Pizza is relaunching in Dallas.
Based on companywide record-breaking sales during 2021, the Kansas City, MO-based pizzeria brand believes the time is right to try expanding for the second time in the Lone Star State.
“The pandemic helped foster a change to the way SPIN! engaged with guests,” CEO Ed Brownell said in a release. “We made our business more accessible and convenient for our guests.”
Such changes include a new mobile app, revamped online ordering, curbside pickup, and in-restaurant to-go sections. The brand also introduced a more user-friendly menu design, limited the cost of its pizza toppings, and installed hot hold stations at its locations so pizzas are held at the proper temperature until guests pick them up.
SPIN! first entered the Dallas market in 2015. At the time, it opened four company-owned restaurants, but three of those four closed within three years. The only restaurant that survived is currently open in Richardson at 348 W Campbell Rd.
“It didn’t go well, partially because we were a little too aggressive,” Brownell said, per Dallas Business Journal. “Going into a new market is challenging. You don’t have the infrastructure from existing restaurants to train people.”
But the success of the Richardson restaurant is one of the reasons Brownell is giving Dallas another chance at SPIN! “…If you look at the store still open, our sales have doubled since we opened in 2015. We’re doing a great job there. Our guests love SPIN!, and they drive a long way to get to us,” he said.
By Q4 of 2022, the brand hopes to open two new Dallas-area locations. In 2023, it plans to open two more Dallas-area locations. The performance of those restaurants will then be evaluated and if all is going well, the company could grow from 14 restaurants to 30 in the next five to seven years. Most of those new locations will be in the Dallas area, but there’s also opportunity for growth in Austin, Houston, and San Antonio.
Locations for the forthcoming restaurants have not yet been announced.
Menu-wise, SPIN! offers an authentic Neapolitan pizza experience, fresh salads with homemade dressing, creamy gelato, and wine by the glass or bottle.
