The owner of a new lounge opening in Fort Worth in early 2023 hopes to share his passion for cigars with the younger generation. Carlos Trice, owner and manager of Pendulum Cigar Lounge, told What Now Dallas that cigars have come a long way over the past 30 years.
“For the longest time, I thought that cigars were a stinky habit,” Trice shared. “It all changed when I started traveling around the country as an Aerospace Structures Analyst Contractor where I got to meet people that introduced me to this hobby of smoking cigars. And, that’s when I found out that there’s more to a cigar than just the stinky memory I had as a child.”
Many people might think of a cigar lounge as a quiet, dark setting with wooden furniture and various taxidermy mounts on the walls. Trice plans to offer a more colorful space at Pendulum to enjoy a cigar and a drink with televisions featuring sporting events.
Trice hopes Pendulum’s vibrant and energetic atmosphere will draw in the younger crowd. “But at the same time, I’m trying to also serve a space where the older generation can come in and feel welcome, as well. That way, the two can interact,” Trice said. “I’m hoping that when someone walks into my space, they will feel comfortable, no matter how old they are.”
A full bar will offer various types of alcoholic beverages with a focus on cognac, brandy, whiskey, and bourbon. Trice plans to promote Texas-based beverages and flavorful cigars.
No food will be served at Pendulum, but there are multiple restaurants within walking distance. “They can bring the food in if they want to, but my focus is to have somewhere they can come after they have a good meal.”
Trice has worked in the aerospace industry for over two decades and plans to continue his employment in the industry as he manages Pendulum Cigar Lounge. This is Trice’s first business, and he looks forward to interacting with his customers to discuss his passion for smoking cigars.
Pendulum Cigar Lounge will be located at 4750 Bryant Irvin Rd., Ste. 822 in Fort Worth. Trice hopes to open on February 1, 2023.
