Susiecakes is leasing space at an office and commercial kitchen facility at 6211 Owens St. The brand will be taking over suite 130, a space of 5,055 square feet. Renovation on the building will cost an estimated $500,000. It is expected to start in September and be completed in December. Work will include removing existing walls to expand the existing commercial kitchen to meet the needs of the incoming cake company.

Located in Dallas’ West Love/Medical District area, several other bakery and catering brands also lease space at the facility.

Founded by Susan Sarich, Susiecakes is a home-style bakery concept from California.

The brand’s signature cake is “Vanilla Celebration” – a 6-layer treat baked with colorful sugar confetti, filled and frosted with their signature retro-blue vanilla frosting. Its portfolio of traditional cookies and bars includes soft, chewy snickerdoodles, brownies, seven-layer bars and whoopie pies. Rotating seasonal items such as fruit pies and holiday treats like pumpkin cupcakes with maple frosting are also featured.

Susiecakes recently opened its third DFW location in East Dallas’ historic Hillside Village Shopping Center at 6441 E Mockingbird Ln, suite 150. The brand’s other two area locations are at 6100 Luther Ln in Dallas’ Preston Center and in Fort Worth at 1621 River Run, suite 151.

“I absolutely fell in love with the warm hospitality, culinary scene and strong sense of community,” Sarich said in a press release at the time of the Mockingbird Ln location opening. “I’m thrilled to not only call Dallas my home now but to open another SusieCakes location to offer our sweets to a new area of town.”

The first SusieCakes bakery opened in 2006 in Brentwood, California, serving up classic treats made daily in a friendly, old-fashioned neighborhood experience.
