In charge of the expansion are Farouk Jamal and Ali Poonja of Slim Brothers. The two will be bringing the restaurants to Collin and Denton Counties in Q4 of 2022.

“After connecting with franchise owners in the system and learning about their experience owning Slims, we knew we had to be a part of the chicken segment,” said Jamal, per QSR. “We’re excited to join an emerging brand that is growing rapidly, and we’re ready to hit the ground running.”

Jamal and Poonja have plenty of franchising experience. They currently own and operate multiple Burger King locations in their local community. Before Burger King, they franchised other nationally known brands from Dunkin’ Donuts to Subway.

“With over 20 years of franchise experience under their belts, we know that Slim Brothers is the perfect franchise group to grow Slims in Texas,” said Jackie Lobdell, vice president of franchise development at Slim Chickens. “We’re excited to further expand our presence in Texas.”

Slim Chickens, which features dine-in and drive-thru, has opened more than 150 locations across the U.S. and the U.K. They have no plans to stop there or any time soon as more than 750 more stores are currently in development. Founded in 2003 by Greg Smart and Tom Gordon, the Arkansas-based southern chicken chain has become known for its friendly hospitality and inviting atmosphere, building up a strong devoted fanbase, known as “Slimthusiasts”.

Besides hand-breaded chicken tenders that are cooked-to-order, the brand’s menu also includes wings, sandwiches, wraps, salads, and even chicken and waffles. Sides include such southern favorites as mac n’ cheese, coleslaw, fried okra, and potato salad. Guests can add even more flavor to their meals by choosing from the brand’s 17 house-made dipping sauces like Slim Chickens’ classic “super secret” Slim Sauce, sweet and sour Korean BBQ, and the feisty Mango Habanero.
