Maureen Ehrlicher’s sno-cones are not just any sno-cones. At NOLA Snoballs, Ehrlicher serves up the frozen dessert New Orleans-style. That basically means the ice is soft shaven and the syrups are enriched with evaporated milk. The result is the creamy, cold, and fluffy confection you need to beat this heat. That said, you’re going to have to wait just a little while longer before you can indulge in a sno-cone at the company’s storefront.

NOLA Snoballs is in the process of relocating from 345 W Jefferson Blvd to 349, where it will nestle in between Bishop and Madison. The shaved ice shop is just waiting on permit approval from the city, and then it will continue serving the sweet treats from its own space. However you won’t have to suffer from a lack of sno-cone in the meantime.

“Our new spot at 349 west Jefferson is not ready yet,” the shop recently announced over social media. “Temporarily we will be at the Texas Discovery Gardens in fair park. They are open 10-5 Wednesday thru Sunday!”

According to the eatery’s website, NOLA Snoballs was founded by “bonafide transplants from New Orleans” who are excited to share a taste of the city with Dallas. NOLA Snoballs are crafted with house-made simple syrup that uses real sugar. And you can taste New Orleans through the stand’s chocolate sno-cone, which is made with Hersey’s chocolate syrup. Ehrlicher also serves up sno-cones with chamoy, the spicy sauce not typically found on NOLA cones, so you could say these cones do have some Dallas influence.
