The brand has two new locations in the works for early 2022. The first is coming to Frisco at 13355 Dallas Pkwy, occupying suite 500. According to a project filing, renovation work was started earlier this month and is expected to be completed by the end of February 2022.

The second location will be in Lewisville at 4440 State Hwy 121, occupying suite 35. Renovation work on the 1,019-square-foot space is expected to begin later this month and be completed by the end of March 2022. The Lewisville location will be a part of the luxury apartment community, The Realm at Castle Hills. It will be joining other eateries such as the forthcoming smoothie shop Salubrious Juice and More, Mex-Tex restaurant El Patio, and luxury cake shop The London Baker.

Exact opening dates have not yet been announced for the new locations.

There are currently two other Mochinut locations open and operating in North Texas. The first one opened in Carrollton at 3052 Old Denton Rd, suite 104, in summer of this year. The other just opened in Plano at the beginning of the month at 8600 Preston Rd in suite 123.

Other Lone Star State Mochinuts are in Houston, Katy, San Antonio and San Marcos. More are coming soon to Austin, Pearland and Sugar Land.

The fairly new artisan bakery chain was launched by Jaewook Ha in Cerritos, California, in 2020. There are already nearly 40 locations in the Golden State, with plans to expand across the U.S. and even overseas to South Korea and Thailand.

Mochinut brands itself as more than just a donut. According to the company website, it is “the titillating product of the happy union between Japanese rice cake (mochi) and American-style doughnuts, which originated in Hawaii.” Made with sticky sweet rice flour, Mochinut’s brand of mochi donuts are constructed of eight small, round, and delicate dough balls connected in the shape of a circle.

With a crisp exterior and chewy interior, Mochinut donuts are coated and glazed with various flavors such as chocolate, vanilla, matcha and earl grey, and topped with delectable toppings like cookies, fruits, flakes and nuts.

Its menu also includes Korean rice flour hotdogs and bubble tea drinks.
