Occupying suite B, the new 3,114-square-foot Hawaiian style restaurant will feature Mo’ Bettahs’s brand-new prototype that exudes the diverse ocean lifestyle of the Hawaiian islands. When guests enter, they will be instantly transported to the islands thanks to new visuals featuring colors and patterns that portray the exquisite sceneries of plants, flowers and waters native to Hawaii.

Founded in 2008 by brothers Kimo and Kalani Mack, the Utah-based brand serves up the aloha spirit as a “plate lunch.” The brothers grew up in Oahu, Hawaii, and the concept comes from plantation workers eating outside in dusty pineapple or sugar cane fields. The brand aims to give guests an authentic Hawaiian island experience, allowing them to fill their opu (stomach) with ono (delicious) island food.

“Hawaiian food culture is a diverse mixture of many races and food preparation styles. The Mo’ Bettahs menu reflects Hawaii staples that are Kimo and Kalani’s favorites and more than just ordinary fast-food,” a statement on the brand’s website reads. “It is food that is filling and will help you find the strength to do whatever is on your agenda for the day.”

“Mo’ Bettahs quickly gained loyal fans throughout Dallas thanks to our real, authentic, fresh-from-the-islands food that is filling and gives strength for the day,” Kimo said in a statement. “You won’t find these flavors anywhere else, and now we’re thrilled to begin serving our signature island barbecue menu from our newest prototype in Plano. There’s nothing like hitting up your favorite local surf spot or taking in the breeze off the ocean, and that’s exactly what we hope our guests feel when they visit our restaurants. We can’t wait to bring this special experience to more of DFW and serve our ‘ono’ island cuisine to the Plano community.”

The menu is pretty simple. Guests are able to build their plate lunch by choosing one or more proteins such as Teriyaki Chicken, Shrimp Tempura, or Kalua Pig – a smoky, salty pork option that is slow roasted for over 10 hours until tender. The meat is served with steamed white rice and macaroni salad.

In preparation for its grand opening in just a few weeks, Mo’ Bettahs is hiring 15 more team members in the weeks ahead. Those interested can apply by visiting Harri.com or by visiting the brand’s North Dallas location.

Mo’ Bettahs is part of the Savory Restaurant Fund, a Utah-based restaurant investment group that includes brands such as Hash Kitchen, The Crack Shack, and Via 313.

Since its start, Mo’ Bettahs has expanded to over 27 locations in Idaho, Texas and Utah. The brand has plans to bring more locations to the Lone Star State. Frisco Lakes, Fort Worth, and Mansfield are all being eyed.

Mo’ Bettahs is currently open in North Dallas at 6471 E NW Hwy., suite 100. The Plano opening will mark the brand’s second in Texas and 28th location nationwide.
