“Addison has the perfect neighborhood and community for Loro to thrive,” she said in a statement to What Now Dallas. “The Dallas community has been so supportive and welcoming we thought it would be a great idea.”

The project will be a new 5,200-square-foot construction from the ground up. The location was previously home to the Flying Saucer Draught Emporium, a craft beer bar that closed its doors at the end of 2020 after 25 years. The existing building will be demolished to make way for Loro. With an estimated cost of $1,500,000, construction is set to begin in January 2022 and be completed by the end of June, according to the TDLR.

Loro is being brought to one of North Texas’ most exciting cities for dining and events by Dallas-based commercial real estate agency Northwood Retail and Hai Hospitality, an award-winning restaurant group from Austin. Along with Loro, Hai Hospitality also manages brands Uchi, Uchiko, and Uchiba.

Created in 2018 by James Beard Award winners Chef Tyson Cole and Aaron Franklin of Franklin Barbecue, Loro has become quite a hot spot in Austin and is now expanding its presence across Texas.

In July of this year, the brand opened its second restaurant in Dallas at 1812 N Haskell Av. Led by chef de cuisine Mike Perez, the Old East location offers a spacious beer garden, open patio, and indoor dining. A third restaurant, opening early next year, is planned for Houston.

While the menu for the Addison location is still in development, guests can expect many of the same Southeast Asian and Japanese-inspired dishes as seen on menus at Loro’s other locations. The food offering combines Texan and Asian influences on delicious eats like the French onion brisket melt, brisket coconut rice, Malaysian chicken bo ssam, char siew pork belly, and crunchy snap pea and toasted coconut salad. Drinks include beer, wine, batch cocktails, and boozy slushees like mango sake and Vietnamese coffee.

Plans submitted to the city of Addison show that the new Loro restaurant will be beautifully spacious with 140 interior seats and 25 interior tables. The expansive outdoor space will include a restroom, waiting area with 65 seats, bar, and covered dining area with 150 seats.

With such a flavorful menu and expansive design, I think it’s safe to say that Addison will find its new hot spot in Loro.
