An ice cream shop that got its start in Plano in 2009 is preparing to expand this year.
Ked’s Artisan Ice Cream and Treats will open its first franchise location in Frisco. Coming to 12900 W Eldorado Pkwy, the shop will occupy suite 120.
A tentative opening date could not be given, but it will likely open sometime in the third quarter of 2022. “We’re still going through the permit process and then will enter construction,” founder and franchise owner Hussain Kedwaii told What Now Dallas. “It’ll at least be a couple of months.”
Started in 2009 as Old Town Creamery, Kedwaii remodeled and rebranded the shop as Ked’s Artisan Ice Cream & Treats in 2018 as part of his plans to start franchising.
The shop’s award-winning, hand-crafted ice cream has landed it on the Best in DFW list for Best Frozen Treats. In total, more than 120 exotic and standard flavors from all over the world are offered including Butterscotch Gush, Guava, Texas Praline, Thai Coffee, and Vanilla Cinnamon Spin. Crepes, waffles, bubble waffles, faloodas – a popular Indian milk based dessert – boba tea, and coffee are also on the menu.
Custom cakes are offered, as well. Signature cake flavors include Chocolate Overload, Cool Mint, Birthday Bash and Gummy Bear Galore.
Kedwaii said he is also in talks to open several more franchise locations across the DFW area.
The flagship Plano shop is open seven days a week at 6205 Coit Rd, suite 344.
