The city west of Fort Worth will soon have its own "farm to smoker" BBQ fix.

Heim Barbecue will open a fifth restaurant along I-20 and Cinema Dr in Hudson Oaks. Despite being small, the Parker County city is definitely growing and has a burgeoning food scene. Heim will be joining the area with Pathfinder Brewery, Bourbon-N-Branch Brewing and R&K Café.

“The City of Hudson Oaks is proud to be the Parker County home for Heim BBQ, one of Ft. Worth’s most unique and popular BBQ restaurants. I want to welcome Travis, his team and those delicious bacon burnt ends to the Hudson Oaks family of businesses,” Hudson Oaks Mayor Marc Povero said about the new addition to the city.

Founded by husband and wife team, Travis and Emma Heim, the now North Texas BBQ empire got its start in 2015 as a small food trailer in Fort Worth. There are currently three Heim locations in operation – the original at 1109 W Magnolia Ave, the second at 5333 White Settlement Rd, and the third at 3130 West Mockingbird Ln. The Dallas location is currently closed due to a small kitchen fire that broke out in November 2021.

Heim Barbecue’s fourth location will open in Burleson at 135 W Ellison St., a part of the city’s Old Town development.

“Burleson and Hudson Oaks are both great opportunities to be a part of awesome communities that are looking for fun, family friendly restaurants in their area,” Travis Heim told PaperCity Fort Worth. “We also have a ton of customers who already live in those areas that drive to our Fort Worth stores, so why not bring the barbecue closer to them?”

Why not, indeed.

Similar to the brand’s River location, the forthcoming Hudson Oaks restaurant will feature a 5,000-square-foot layout with a large beer garden, covered patio, stage for live music, private dining room and a full bar. ID Studio 4, a firm which specializes in restaurant and hospitality design, is in charge of design and construction. According to PaperCity Fort Worth, the planning phase has already begun with construction set to begin in late spring.

Heim Barbecue is known for its:

  • bacon burnt ends, aka “meat candy”
  • Big Cat Sandwich – a half pound of Prime Certified Angus Beef smoked brisket, topped with green chili mac and cheese, and loaded on a toasted jalapeño cheddar sourdough bun
  • bar food like corn dogs and loaded potato skins
  • and a slew of burgers.

There’s also breakfast! Brisket tacos and biscuit sandwiches.
