First opened in Garland in 2019 by chef Burak Ozcan and his wife, Stephanie, Ferah is the product of a lifelong dream and over 17 years of experience in gourmet kitchens around the world. The restaurant puts a Texas spin on Mediterranean favorites, allowing guests to enjoy its fusion cuisine in an open and inviting space.

“We are thrilled to announce our second location, opening later this year in Southlake, Texas,” a post on the restaurant’s Facebook reads. “After searching many months for the perfect location, we can’t wait to bring our unique, Tex-Med cuisine to Southlake Town Square. This upscale shopping and dining destination is an excellent fit for our chef-driven concept. Ferah’s second location is coming soon and we look forward to sharing more details as we work toward our opening date.”

The Southlake location will not have outdoor dining, but in an email to What Now Dallas, Stephanie shared that it will feature four interior dining spaces that each offer unique ambiance. Those spaces include a Chef Bar – with an exclusive viewing of chefs in the kitchen – and a private dining room.

Expansion is something that the Ozcans have been eyeing from the start and now, even with the havoc that the pandemic brought on the restaurant scene, they are seeing Ferah not only survive, but thrive.

“We opened our original location with the long-term goal to expand and so we were fostering growth since the beginning. While we never anticipated the pandemic’s impact on the restaurant industry, our leadership team was quick to respond and pivot to meet the operational challenges of the pandemic,” Stephanie shared.

Ferah was planning to launch an online ordering system in early 2020 before the pandemic hit. Since that was already in the works, the restaurant was quickly able to switch to a takeout/delivery model amid the shutdown.

“Our commitment to delicious food and outstanding service meant that we had established a loyal customer base in our first six months of opening,” Stephanie said. “Our Ferah foodies continue[d] to support (and tell their friends about us) which has allowed us to grow even during a challenging season for our industry.”

Despite its success, there have been a few struggles due to supply chain issues.

“Food cost has increased exponentially in addition to some ingredients being difficult to find,” Stephanie said. “We often have to make multiple trips to source the ingredients we need when previously we were able to rely on deliveries from suppliers.”

The menu offerings at Southlake will largely be the same as that of Garland, but Ferah chefs enjoy “getting creative,” so guests can expect to see specials specific to the location.

“We are very excited about this location’s Chef Bar, an exclusive dining experience where foodies can enjoy a first-hand look at the chefs preparing their meal,” Stephanie said. “It has always been Chef Burak’s dream to have an open kitchen and we plan to offer regular chef’s tasting events.”

Ferah’s diverse menu offers dishes for a variety of tastes and dietary preferences including gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian and low-carb options. Chef-inspired creations include gyro quesadillas, falafel tacos and burgers, and Mediterranean classics like Turkish grilled meatballs and shish kebabs that come served with rice pilaf, veggies and Tzatziki sauce.

Speciality and classic cocktails, beer and wine are served from a full bar.

The restaurant also offers catering, private events, daily happy hour and Sunday brunch.

Ferah Tex-Med Kitchen is currently open at 690 Beebalm Ln in Firewheel Town Center.
