Bonchon Chicken, the internationally known restaurant brand serving up Korean fried chicken, is set to open at 4760 Preston Rd.
The location is a part of Frisco Village, a shopping center anchored around Tom Thumb, and conveniently located at the SE corner of Lebanon Rd. and Preston Rd. Other major retailers include Nikugen Steak and Ramen, Leslie’s Pool Supplies, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Luigi’s Pizza and Pasta, and The UPS Store.
According to lease intel, the restaurant will occupy suite 228 – a 2,200-square foot space.
Over the last few years, Bonchon has taken a special interest in the Lone Star State. At the beginning of 2021, the brand relocated its global headquarters from New York City to Dallas, a move that brought new jobs and new corporate fast-casual restaurants to the state.
The Dallas move aligned with the brand’s plans to build a bigger retail footprint in Texas. It opened its first company operated fast-casual Dallas restaurant at 4980 Belt Line Rd in Addison in February. Locations have also been opened in Round Rock, The Colony, Katy, Houston, and Pearland.
“The shift to a new fast causal model combined with our corporate relocation to Dallas, will create an even stronger foundation for Bonchon’s continued national growth along with our accelerated growth across Texas,” Flynn Dekker, the CEO of Bonchon and a veteran of the Dallas restaurant business, said at the time of the move.
Born in 2002 in Busan, South Korea, Bonchon currently has 106 locations across the United States and 250 restaurants throughout Asia and the Middle East.
Korean for ‘my hometown,’ Bonchon was recognized by Business Insider in 2019 as “the gold standard for fried chicken”. Its menu includes Korean fried chicken (of course!), as well as starters like pork and veggie potstickers, pork buns, and Korean tacos. Main dishes include bulgogi, chicken katsu, house friend rice, and udon noodle soup.
