The Irish eatery with a Texas twist will open its “little sister” later this year at 6341 La Vista Dr, according to The Advocate. The Lakewood location was most recently home to Full Circle Tavern, a restaurant and bar that closed in 2019.

Since opening in 2003, the welcoming Blackfriar Pub has become a favorite in its downtown neighborhood. Located in an old frame house on historic McKinney Ave, the restaurant features a lively beer garden and dog friendly patio with TVs, making it the perfect spot to take in sports on one of Texas’s many lovely evenings.

The interior is decorated with ornate antique woodwork that came from the VIP room of the former Hard Rock Café, which stood next door to Blackfriar until 2008. According to the brand’s website, the woodwork originally came from a castle in England owned by Pete Townshend of rock band, The Who. The entire room, which includes heavily-carved prayer panels and a gothic arch back bar, was reportedly shipped to Dallas in 1982.

Guests can enjoy Irish/European classics like corned beef poutine, fish and chips, shepherd’s pie, steak frites and the Irish Reuben sandwich

Happy Hour is every weekday from 3 PM to 7 PM and features a variety of craft cocktails, beer, bourbon and Scotch. On weekends, there’s brunch from 11 AM to 4 PM with $4 mimosas and $6 Bloody Mary’s.

Blackfriar Pub’s flagship location is open in the heart of Uptown Dallas at 2621 McKinney Ave.
